Isocell, a company specializing in precast elements, faced a significant challenge in meeting the high demand for their products while optimizing their labor force. The objective was to increase productivity by casting more square meters per day without the need to hire additional employees. This presented a complex problem that required an innovative solution to streamline their production processes.
Owing to high demand for its precast elements, Isocell was seeking to increase productivity and optimize its labor force. Specifically, this meant looking for ways to cast more square meters per day without increasing the number of employees.
To tackle Isocell’s productivity and labor optimization challenges, Bekaert experts proposed the use of Dramix® steel fiber concrete reinforcement, which increases productivity because it partially or totally removes the need to use rebar and steel mesh. A factory test was conducted to prove this claim. Moreover, Isocell was impressed by the galvanized nature of Dramix® steel fibers, ensuring a rustfree, long-lasting reinforcement, eliminating performance degradation and preventing discoloration of the final precast elements. Isocell is now producing around a quarter of its precast wall panels with Dramix® 3D 65/40 GG, which has led to an overall productivity increase of 10%. Since less materials and energy are used, it also impacted Isocell’s carbon footprint.
